Panasonic claims to own the most efficient rooftop solar panel in the world

Electronics giant Panasonic announced yesterday that it is now the creator of the most efficient rooftop solar panel in the world.

This announcement from Panasonic comes just a few days after U.S. residential solar leader SolarCity touted its new rooftop solar panel as the most efficient in the world.

SolarCity made claims to own to world’s most efficient photovoltaic (PV) module, reporting a 22.04 percent module-level efficiency. But Panasonic’s new rooftop panel has a new world-record module conversion efficiency of 22.5 percent.

The 22.5 percent effiency for the new Panasonic rooftop solar panel is confirmed by third-party Japanese National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Panasonic said.

Daniel Roca, senior business developer at Panasonic Eco Solutions Europe, said in a press release that this new high-efficient module is yet another piece to the puzzle that makes Panasonic a leader in solar/PV market.

“The new panel efficiency record demonstrates once again Panasonic’s proven leadership in photovoltaics and our ongoing commitment to move the needle in advanced solar technology,” Daniel Roca, Panasonic
