SolarCity touts new rooftop solar panel as ‘the most efficient in the world’
New, high-efficiency solar panels will increase power production
Late last week, solar energy provider SolarCity announced a new, more efficient rooftop solar panel that will reportedly produce 30 to 40 percent more power than standard efficiency solar panels.
According to SolarCity, this new rooftop solar panel has a module efficiency of more than 22 percent and will harvest more solar power over a year than any other rooftop panel in production.

The company stated that the majority of the production of these new solar panels will occur at their facility in Buffalo, New York. The expectation is that between 9,000 – 10,000 of the new, high-efficiency rooftop solar panels will be produced each day at full capacity.
SolarCity is reporting a 22.04 percent module-level efficiency for this new rooftop panel, which is a measurement obtained by third-party testing provider Renewable Energy Test Center.
The company also stated that while the new panels will be used for homes, businesses, schools and other organizations, they could also be utilized in larger-scale installations. Possible larger-scale installations could include utility-scale solar fields and other ground-level installations.

SolarCity is based in California but the company currently serves customers in 19 states, plus Washington D.C. and is also America’s largest solar power provider.
