{"id":81,"date":"2015-10-26T13:06:46","date_gmt":"2015-10-26T17:06:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/solarenergylocal.com\/news\/?p=81"},"modified":"2015-10-28T09:32:03","modified_gmt":"2015-10-28T13:32:03","slug":"five-companies-said-to-be-running-campaigns-against-solar-power","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.solarenergylocal.com\/news\/five-companies-said-to-be-running-campaigns-against-solar-power\/","title":{"rendered":"Five companies said to be running campaigns against solar power"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Environment America, an environmental advocacy organization, recently published a report detailing a group of companies that are said to be &#8220;undermining American solar power.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is the basis of the report:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[E]lectric utilities, fossil fuel interests and powerful industry front groups have begun chipping away at the key policies that have put solar energy on the map in the United States \u2013 often in the face of strong objections from a supportive public.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a quick look at the companies mentioned in the report.<\/p>\n<h3>Edison Electric Institute (EEI)<\/h3>\n<p>This group has worked to repeal state renewable electricity standard and has also run anti-solar campaigns in the state of Arizona.*<\/p>\n<h3>American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC)<\/h3>\n<p>The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) works with utility and fossil fuel interests to help them gain access to state legislatures.
